The Journalist ( Russian Журналист ) is a film by the Soviet director Sergei Gerasimow from 1967. It received the Grand Prize at the Moscow Film Festival . The film consists of two parts.

action

In the first part, titled Encounters, Yuri Aljabjew, a successful journalist, travels from Moscow to a small town in the Urals because a certain Anikina, a woman who lives in the town, writes complaints about the local authorities that she indulges in indulgence and acceptance accused of bribe. In the town of Aljabjew he meets Shura Okayemova, a pretty girl who works in a local factory. Attracted by Shura's intelligence and beauty, Aljabev, he tries to seduce her, but Shura rejects him. Aljabjew leaves his place of residence and travels first to Moscow , then to Paris for professional reasons .

The second part (garden and spring) tells of Aljabev's life in Paris. There he meets Annie Girardot , attends a rehearsal by Mireille Mathieu and has extensive discussions with an American journalist, a new friend whom he tries to convince of the advantages of the Soviet way of life. Aljabjew returns from Paris to Moscow and travels again to the city in the Urals. He couldn't forget Shura and wants to get in touch with her again. Upon arrival, he finds out that Anikina wrote letters to the local authorities accusing Shura of liaison with him. The Komsomol meeting then decided that Shura had to move to a dormitory in their factory. Aljabjew finds Shura there and makes her a declaration of love. You decide to get married.
