action

The cat Sylvester is on the hunt for mice and is after the friends of Speedy Gonzales . Since he cannot outsmart her, he buys the book The Pied Piper of Guadelupe , a story similar to the Pied Piper of Hamelin . He learns to play the flute and can actually lure mice to him with his melody and lock them in a plugged vessel. Speedy Gonzales, however, manages to gradually free all friends. He himself is now being hunted in vain by Sylvester.

While trying to catch Speedy Gonzales on a motorcycle, Sylvester falls down a cliff and then drives wrong into a one-way street and rams a bus. He breaks his leg in the process. He leaves the hospital with a cast and crutches. Speedy Gonzales asks him if he wants his flute back and Sylvester refuses. Now Speedy Gonzales begins to play a melody on the flute and now it is New Year's Eve who follows him dancing and cursing, as if under duress, despite his leg in plaster and crutches.

The Guadeloupe Pied Piper was released in theaters on August 19, 1961 as part of the Looney Tunes Theatrical Cartoon Series . All characters are voiced by Mel Blanc .

Awards

The Guadeloupe Pied Piper was nominated for an Oscar in the category “ Best Animated Short Film ” in 1962 , but could not prevail against The Substitute .
