The Fall of the Empire Leopard (Original title: Gli invincibili fratelli Maciste ) is a 1964 by Roberto Mauri turned mythological adventure film made in Italy. It wasn't until ten years later, on May 24, 1974, that the film had its premiere in German-speaking countries.

action

During the construction of a temple, which Prince Akim is building with his fiancée Jana and with the help of the Maciste brothers, the evil queen of an underground kingdom, Thaliade, has Jhana kidnapped. The Macistes discover their trail; one informs Akim, the other is attacked by leopard men and kidnapped into the realm, where despite his strength he is forced under the will of Taliade with a drink.

Akim arrives in the underworld; Thaliade promises the freedom of Jana and all prisoners if Akim marries her. Maciste I, who has also arrived in the meantime, tries to free his brother, but only comes up against the magic potions Thaliades when their former servant Nicé is at his side. Both brothers defeat the leopard men and reach the temple when the wedding of Thaliad and Akim takes place. Maciste I upsets the stability of the empire, Maciste II leads the prisoners to freedom, Thaliade goes under with her empire.

criticism

“An unspeakably simple-minded monumental adventure film with countless dead in front of cheap cardboard backdrops and even cheaper mythology,” writes the lexicon of international films , “a summer film with so much paper mache that in the end one even suspects the twitching biceps of the Macistes as such,” he said Corriere della Sera .
