action
A giant returning from a trip finds children playing in his garden. He drives away the children and builds a wall around the garden, in which he lives alone from then on. The next spring it stays cold in the giant's garden because spring forgets it and the birds and flowers have no interest in living in the garden if there are no children playing there. The giant suffers from the cold and feels lonely. One day the children find a hole in the wall and sneak into the garden. Spring breaks out immediately. From the window the giant sees a child sitting on every tree. Only a boy is too small to climb a tree. The giant lifts the boy up into the tree and realizes how unhappy his selfishness has made him. He tears down the wall and invites all the children to his garden. In the years that followed, the giant enjoyed the company of the children, but did not see the little boy he helped again. Years later, when the giant grew old, on a winter day he saw the boy in the only corner of the garden where a tree was blooming. He recognizes his friend and goes to him. The boy, who has stigmata on his hands and feet, invites the giant to come with him to his garden, paradise this time .
