Life
In 1968 Shostak and Gerald Potterton (* 1931) founded the private film animation studio Potterton Productions in Montreal, later Potterton Shostak Productions. Short animated films followed, including Tiki Tiki and the Oscar Wilde film adaptation The Selfish Giant , which was nominated for an Oscar in the category of Best Animated Short in 1972 . There were also contributions for Sesame Street .
In the early 1980s Shostak was involved in founding Universal Productions Canada (UPC) and was managing director of UPC for three years. In 1991, Shostak co-founded CineVu Productions in Vancouver , alongside Jeff Barmash and Georgeeschbaumer , which, like Potterton Productions, was part of CIS. For Cannonball Fever - Shostak was nominated for a Golden Raspberry in the Worst Film category.
In 1995, CIS merged with Shostak's new production company Shostak / Rossner Productions, which he founded with Danny Rossner. Shostak / Rossner Productions specialized in low-budget feature films and television series, resulting in films such as Sci-Fighter - Vorhof zur Hölle (1996), Strip Search (1997) and Justice to Death (1999).
