Derek Roddy

Derek Roddy (* 28. August 1972 in South Carolina ) is an American metal - drummer . He played with several bands, such as B. Hate Eternal , Malevolent Creation , Nile , Divine Empire , Serpents Rise, Aurora Borealis and Council of the Fallen . He is known for his extremely fast drumming speed, as well as the variety of genres he plays. This includes not only metal, but also genres such as jazz , blues and rock .

As one of seven drummers, he was invited to audition by the band Dream Theater in October 2010 to find a successor for Mike Portnoy , who left the band in September 2010. The film about the rehearsals and auditions is included on the bonus DVD of A Dramatic Turn of Events , released in 2011 .
