Derlis Gomez

Derlis Venancio Gómez López (born November 2, 1972 in Ypacaraí ) is a former Paraguayan football player . He took part in the 2006 World Cup in Germany with the Paraguayan national team.

Player career

The goalkeeper played in his career from 1991 with numerous Paraguayan clubs, including seven seasons with his first club Sol de América . 2006/07 he was one season with the Argentine first division side Quilmes AC under contract. With Nacional Asunción he became Paraguayan champion in 2009. In 2014 he ended his career at Club 12 de Octubre at the age of 40.

In April 2003, he was banned for six months after testing positive for cocaine on a doping control .

Gómez was already in Paraguay's squad at the 1993 Copa America as a 20-year-old , but did not make his debut for the national team until 2005 at the age of 32. In 2006 he was the third goalkeeper in Paraguay to take part in the World Cup in Germany . He made a total of seven international matches by 2008.

From 2015 he was the goalkeeping coach of the national team of Paraguay in the coaching team of national coach Ramón Díaz .
