Grupo Desportivo de Maputo , also Desportivo Maputo or GDM for short , is a sports club from Maputo , the capital of Mozambique . The soccer team secured the championship of Mozambique eight times between 1957 and 2006. The club's roller hockey team is also at the forefront, with 15 national championships won between 1976 and 2010. During the colonial era, she also won the Portuguese championship three times.

The club was founded on May 31, 1921 as Grupo Desportivo de Lourenço Marques by Professor Sá Couto, José Maria Rodrigues, Alfredo Fragoso, Américo Costa, Martinho Carvalho Durão and Professor Cabanelas. After Mozambique gained independence, the association was renamed Grupo Desportivo de Maputo in 1976. The club's logo has also been changed.

In 1925 Desportivo won the city ​​championship of Lourenço Marques , which was held until 1961, his first title. In 1957 the club won its first of eight Mozambican championships. With the national team, he was third in the 1966 World Cup.
