Detlef Müller (born August 20, 1964 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a German politician ( SPD ). Since December 2014 he has been a member of the German Bundestag , which he had previously belonged to for one electoral term from 2005 to 2009.

Life and work

After attending the Polytechnische Oberschule (POS), Müller completed an apprenticeship as a locomotive driver at the Deutsche Reichsbahn from 1981 to 1983 . He then worked for the Reichsbahn and, from 1994, for Deutsche Bahn as a locomotive driver (diesel and electric traction), while continuing to work as a trainer, examiner and inspector for locomotive and train drivers. In 2002 he became team leader for vehicles and personnel at the Erzgebirgsbahn in Chemnitz. From 2009 he was employed as the team leader "Disposition, Security and Quality" at the Erzgebirgsbahn.

Between 2004 and 2014 Müller was President of BV Chemnitz 99 . Detlef Müller is also a member of the Klaffenbach Volunteer Fire Brigade, Chemnitzer Football Club , ESV Lok Chemnitz, Friends of the Einsiedel High School, Chemnitz Cabaret, Saxon Railway Museum eV, Railway Friends “Richard Hartmann” eV, Schalom eV, Learning and Memorial Site Kaßberg Prison eV, AWO Chemnitz and the railway transport union EVG.

Detlef Müller is married and has four children.

Political party

Müller became a member of the SPD in 1990 and is a member of the executive committee of the SPD sub-district of Chemnitz. Müller belongs to the Klaffenbach local council between 1999 and 2019.

MP

Müller has been a member of the Chemnitz City Council since 1994 and was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group there from 1999 to 2005. In 2014 he was re-elected chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the city council.

In 2004 he ran unsuccessfully for the Saxon state parliament . In the 2005 Bundestag elections , Detlef Müller entered the German Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Chemnitz constituency . In his constituency, with 28.4% of the first votes, he achieved the lowest share of all directly elected MPs. In the 2009 Bundestag election , Müller received 20.1% and thus only the third most first vote, so he missed re-entry into the Bundestag.

In the 2013 federal election , Müller missed re-entry into the Bundestag both as a direct candidate in the Chemnitz constituency (constituency 162) and as a list candidate . After Wolfgang Tiefensee resigned as a result of his appointment to the Thuringian state government, Müller returned to the Bundestag as a successor on December 19, 2014 .

In the 2017 federal election , Müller was re-elected in the Bundestag via the state list of the SPD Saxony.
