Detlef Schmidt (Manager)

Detlef Schmidt (born July 11, 1944 in Döbern ) is a German manager . He was a member of the supervisory board of VfB Stuttgart until 2010 and a former member of the board of directors for marketing and sales at EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg .

Life and accomplishments

Schmidt has held managerial positions in sales and marketing at Volkswagen AG since 1972 . In 1986 he was appointed managing director of Seat Deutschland GmbH, built up this brand and its sales network in Germany and thus achieved a previous sales record in 1991. In the same year he was appointed member of the board of ŠKODA automobilová as (today ŠkodaAuto) for the sales and marketing division, where a new global trade and service network was created under his leadership. In 1994, in parallel to his work on the board of Škoda, Schmidt was also appointed board member for sales and marketing at Seat SA in Barcelona.

Between 1995 and 2000 he assumed this responsibility exclusively as “Vice-President Ejecutivo Comercial” of Seat SA. Seat SA's sales increased from 303,000 units to over half a million vehicles.

In July 2000, Schmidt became a member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at ŠkodaAuto in Mladá Boleslav. At the same time he was appointed to the Supervisory Board of Seat SA with effect from July 1, 2000. He held this position until April 2002.

From July 2003 to June 30, 2008, Schmidt assumed responsibility for setting up the newly created Marketing & Sales Management Board department at EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG. He was responsible for all strategic and conceptual tasks in marketing. The multi-brand strategy for EnBW was designed and implemented under his leadership. He was also responsible for all strategic tasks in the area of ​​private and commercial customers, industrial customers as well as systems and operations, and for sales controlling. He was appointed supervisory board / chairman of the supervisory board in numerous subsidiaries of EnBW AG.

In December 2008, Schmidt went into business for himself and founded DWS Consulting GmbH with a focus on automobiles and energy.

After the four-year term of office, Schmidt resigned as a member of the supervisory board of Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart .

Advisory Board

Schmidt has been a member of the advisory board of Christoph Kroschke GmbH since 2011 .

In February 2012 Schmidt was appointed to the advisory board of the International Economic Forum Baden-Baden.

He has been a member of the advisory board of Schnellecke Group AG & Co since mid-2012. KG.

He has been a member of the Advisory Board of STP AG since June 2013.

Awards

In 2002 Schmidt received an honorary doctorate from the Technical University of Brno in recognition of his achievements in combining theory and practice .

Detlef Schmidt was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2005 for his entrepreneurial and personal merits as a board member of Seat SA and Škoda Auto.
