Detlef Wimmer

Detlef Wimmer (born July 18, 1984 in Linz ) is an Austrian lawyer and politician ( FPÖ ). From 2015 to March 2019 he was Vice Mayor of the City of Linz.

Life

After graduating from high school, Detlef Wimmer completed basic military service as a one-year volunteer and was an employee of the armed forces from 2003 to 2009 and the youngest staff sergeant in the Austrian armed forces. He has been a militia officer in the armed forces since 2011 . He also studied law at the University of Linz , which he completed with a master's degree. He also studied management and IT at the Paisii Hilendarski University in Plovdiv (graduated with a Mag.), Also at the IKW Linz and at the Hans Sachs Institute in Wels with a Master of Public Administration .

In 2009, Wimmer was elected the youngest city councilor to date in the city of Linz and was Vice Mayor between 2015 and 2019.

He was supervisory board member and chairman of the supervisory board in several public companies in Linz . He is also the author of several articles on municipal science and deputy director of the IKW (Institute for Municipal Science). Since 2007 Wimmer has been district party chairman of the FPÖ Linz, since 2009 a member of the federal party leadership of the FPÖ and since 2012 a member of the board of trustees of the Dinghofer Institute.

On March 7, 2019, Wimmer resigned from the Linz city government, and was succeeded by the previous city councilor Markus Hein as Vice Mayor .

Wimmer is the father of two children and lives in Linz.
