Detmar Leo
Detmar Leo (* 28. May 1944 in Burgdorf , † 28. April 2009 in Münster ) was a Bremer politician of the SPD .
biography
education and profession
Leo studied economics. After graduating, he worked as a manager for a German bank, for which he a. a. Wrote appraisals on loans for third world states. For family reasons, he gave up this managerial job to teach economics at the school center on Bördestrasse in Bremen. There he was a popular teacher.
politics
He joined the SPD early on. From 1988 to 1998 he was chairman of the Bremen-North sub-district of the SPD. He was also chairman of the Vegesack SPD local association until 2000 . Various program plans for the Vegesack district are associated with his name.
In 1991 he was elected a member of the Bremen citizenship and he held this office until 2003. In the citizenship he was the economic policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group in the state parliament and a member of the relevant deputations of the citizenship. He had a lasting influence on the structural policy change in Bremen-Nord, especially after the collapse of the Vulkan shipyard . He was active in the citizenship for economic, scientific, cultural-political affairs and for youth welfare.
In Bremen's economic and foreign trade policy, Leo sat down a. a. for cross-border cooperation and got involved e.g. E.g. for the Neue Hanse Interregio (NHI) founded in 1991 , in which the German states Lower Saxony and Bremen as well as the Dutch provinces Drenthe, Friesland, Groningen and Overijssel work together. In addition, he was u. a. from 1991 to 1995 member of the state advisory board of the Bremen funding institution for art in public space , k: kunst in public space Bremen , and for several years member of the supervisory board of the Bremen umbrella organization for regional development and economic development , the BIG Group .
Having fallen ill since 2000, Leo increasingly had to withdraw from his political duties.
The writer Per Leo is his nephew.
