Detschko Usunov
Detschko Christow Usunow ( Bulgarian Дечко Христов Узунов ; born February 22, 1899 in Kazanlak , † April 26, 1986 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian painter.
Life
Usunow studied painting at the Munich Art Academy . In 1938 he became a professor at the Sofia Art Academy . From 1965 to 1970 he was chairman of the Association of Bulgarian Artists. In 1973 he became a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences .
Usunov mainly painted portraits, landscapes and genre pictures . However, he also dealt with wall paintings and mosaics, using elements of Bulgarian folk art. Usunov was awarded the Order of Georgi Dimitrov and the Dimitrov Prize as a Hero of Socialist Labor .
