The Deutschbaselitzer Großteich , in Upper Sorbian Pazličanski wulki hat , is a pond in Saxony that was created between 1532 and 1542. The pond is located northeast of Kamenz near Deutschbaselitz in Upper Lusatia .

The pond initially consisted of three individual ponds. It was not until 1800 that it was converted into its present form by Karl Heinrich and Friedrich Christlieb von Zezschwitz by removing the intermediate embankments.

The dam is an area monument ("Alter Teichdamm") with oaks that are 400–500 years old . The dammed water is the Jauer . The stream normally flows past Deutschbaselitz, but is dammed by a weir and used to irrigate numerous fish ponds in Deutschbaselitz. The pond is used for fishing and recreational activities and is also used for nature conservation ( FFH area Deutschbaselitzer Großteichgebiet ).

At the lake there are u. a. an educational trail, an adventure camp for children and teenagers, a sports center, a campsite and a forest pool. The circular route has a length of approx. 6.5 km. There are two islands in the pond where birds can breed undisturbed.

economy

The Deutschbaselitzer Großteich is used for fish breeding of carp , especially the Deutschbaselitzer Spiegelkarpfen, a cross between the short, high-backed Hungarian carp and the Lusatian muscular, hardy carp. The 3-summer carp are raised in the large pond.
