German Society for East Asian Art

The German Society for East Asian Art (DGOK) was founded in Berlin in 1926 as the “Society for East Asian Art”. The aim of the society is to promote and disseminate interest and understanding for the art and culture of East Asia . It has the legal form of a recognized non-profit association .

The DGOK organizes events , exhibitions , lectures and guided tours , but also trips to events within Germany and East Asia. At the same time, it is active as a support association of the Museum of Asian Art in Berlin. One of the periodical publications issued by the DGOK is the Ostasiatische Zeitschrift , which was first published in 1912 , i.e. before the Society for East Asian Art was founded.
