German handball championship (women) 1962

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The fifth German indoor handball championship for women was held on February 24 and 25, 1962 in the Schöneberg sports hall in Berlin. The playing time was 2 × 15 minutes. The champions of the regional associations South, Southwest, West and North as well as two representatives of the organizing regional association Berlin had qualified for the final round, which took place without the defending champion RSV Mülheim, who had failed in the games for the West German championship at SC Greven 09. The six teams initially played in two groups. The two best placed progressed to the semi-finals, the two bottom of the group contested the game for fifth place. The German champion was surprisingly the only "runner-up" in the field, the SSC Südwest Berlin .
