The Deutsche Saarzeitung was a National Socialist weekly newspaper for the Saar area . Its subtitle was National Battle Gazette .

history

The first edition of the Deutsche Saarzeitung appeared in August 1924. The paper initially followed the line of the ethnic movement after Erich Ludendorff . The publisher and editor-in-chief was initially Franz Schlöder , a master tailor from Traben-Trarbach . The editorial office was at Lohmühlenstrasse 5 in Saarbrücken , which later became the NSDAP's office in the Saar area. He was succeeded by Theo Schlemmer, later editor-in-chief of the Saarbrücker Abendblatt . The printing was done by Homburger Druckerei und Verlags mbH. The paper advertised Otto von Bismarck's idea of a Greater Germany and criticized the Versailles peace treaty and the work of the Saarland government commission . Towards the end of the year the paper was banned, but allowed again in 1925.

After the newspaper was restarted, it served as the DNVP's party organ . The editor-in-chief was Fred Hilgers and the printing house Eduard Haupt in Brebach took over the printing. The German Saarzeitung appeared until 1927 and was then discontinued. The publication has nothing to do with the publication of the same name, which was published by the German Saarbund after the Second World War .
