The German Shooting Union e. V. ( DSU ) was founded in 1984 by Erich Monreal in Weißenthurm. Since then, the DSU has made significant progress both in increasing the number of members and in continuing the sporting program.

The sporting focus is on large-caliber shooting with a special focus on dynamic short and long gun disciplines.

The DSU has 17,490 members (including approx. 500 individual members) who are organized in over 430 associations (as of July 26, 2019). It is a nationally organized central association without regional associations or groups.

aims

The DSU promotes sport shooting in all its diversity and supports fair competition between shooters. Various sporting competitions are organized for this purpose. In addition, special attention is paid to youth work. As early as 2005, the Federal Support Center for Youth Work of the DSU was established in Wershofen / Eifel.

organization

The DSU office is located in Weißenthurm. The DSU training center is also located here with a multi-distance 25 m indoor shooting range and training rooms.

The DSU is a recognized umbrella organization in accordance with Section 15 of the Weapons Act (WaffG) for its member associations and individual members. The member associations regularly send their delegates to the annual delegate assembly, which, according to the statutes, is the highest body of the DSU. The delegates' assembly consists of the delegates from the associations, the members of the Union Council and the honorary members of the DSU.

In addition to other statutory tasks, the Assembly of Delegates receives the reports of the Union Council, releases it and elects the members of the Union Council.

The Union Council is responsible for all matters that are not reserved for the Assembly of Delegates or are the responsibility of the Presidium; it therefore acts as a link between the delegates' assembly and the presidium. In particular, it elects the Presidium and advises it on important matters.

The DSU is legally represented by the Presidium. The five members of the Presidium consisted of the President and four Vice-Presidents.

Sports regulations

The sports regulations of the German Shooting Union define the rules according to which DSU competitions are held. In addition to the description of the individual disciplines, this also includes the description of the target targets used and the permitted types of weapons and ammunition. In addition, the requirements for the awards to be achieved in the competitions, such as master's and management regulations, are also included.

The currently valid version of the 2018 Sports Regulations was approved by the Federal Office of Administration and is stored there

The sports regulations are divided into the following categories:

  • general part
  • Handguns
  • Long guns
  • Gunpowder muzzle loading shooting
  • Compressed air weapons, room sockets
  • Youth sports regulations
  • Sports regulations for gunpowder gunners VDSK

DSU competitions

The German Shooting Union (DSU) organizes several competitions in the course of its sporting year, which runs from June 1st of one year to May 31st of the following year, which are carried out both centrally and decentrally.

The sporting year begins in June with the "German Youth Championship of the DSU", which is organized at the federal base for youth work in Wershofen and at the same time at the DSU shooting center in Wandersleben in Thuringia .

In August, the sporting year will be continued with the DSU's German Black Powder Shooting Championship, which will take place in Mayen- Hausen.

This is followed in September by the cup shooting, which is carried out decentrally in the shooting performance centers of the DSU, which are spread across the whole of Germany.

In the winter half of the year, from October to March, the league round is organized, which the participating shooter completes at the shooting range of his home club. The supervision of the correct execution of the league round is incumbent on the club trainers, who have to complete a corresponding course in the training center of the DSU to qualify.

In April the German championship of the DSU is held in the trap, currently on the clay target of the St. Michael Sportschützen Vettelschoss 1974 eV

The highlight of the sporting year is the German championship of the DSU, which is held on three days at the same time in Berlin and Philippsburg on Ascension Day . Approx. 850 athletes (as of 2014) take part in this competition; In total, they are about 2,700 starts.

Discs

For the most part, the DSU uses discs specially developed for the disciplines of sports regulations.

The symbol disc DSU a2 is used for the dynamic handgun disciplines K13, K15 and K17. It has the format DIN A2 (590 mm × 420 mm on edge) and is shot at in multi-distance shooting at 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 meters. The hit areas are the inner and middle rectangles and the clay disc symbol. The printing color is green on yellow and white paper.

The oval ring washer DSU b2, also in the DIN A2 format (590 mm × 420 mm upright), is used for the static and multi-distance disciplines for short weapons K2, K14, K24, K27, K36, KPEL as well as for the long weapons and black powder disciplines LDG1, LKS1, LEL2, LRG2, LRI2, LRMoV1, LRMoV2, LHG2, LHMoV1, LHMoV2, LF3, LF4, SHSA, SHFR used.

The oval ring disks also use smaller formats that are proportionally identical to the disk DSU b2. The number of the disc type indicates the respective paper format (b3 = DIN A3, b4 = DIN A4, b5 = DIN A5). Here is a list of the disciplines that each target uses:

  • DSU b3: LEL1, LEZ2, LLA, LRZ2, LPER2, LRMZ1, LRMZ2, LHG1, LHZ2, LPH2, LHMZ1, LHMZ2, DKRPM, DLG1, DLRM1
  • DSU b4: LEL1, LRG1, LRI1, LHG1, LHZ1, DKP1, DLG2, DLRM2, DLHM, DLRMS, DLHMS
  • DSU b5: LEZ1, LRZ1, LHZ1, LPH1, DLZ
  • DSU b5 precision: LPER1, LPH1 (Note: the DSU b5 precision has a smaller hit area than the DSU b5)

The symbol disc DSU Quigley 300 symbolically represents a bucket and is used for the 300 meter single loader disciplines LEZ3 and SHKE3.

In addition, UIT, ISSF and IPSC targets as well as some DJV targets are used by the disciplines of the DSU .

Shooting performance squad

Badge cadre shooter of the DSU

The German Shooting Union (DSU) has a shooting performance squad with shooters who are characterized by constant performance at a high level. For this it is necessary that the shooter completes the sporting year and participates in the cup shooting as well as in the league round and finally the German championship of the DSU.

To be classified as a cadre shooter, the shooter must achieve a minimum performance in each discipline. The handgun disciplines K13, K15, K17, K24, K27 and K36 are permitted. Participation must always be in the same caliber class .

With a continuous minimum performance of 70% of the maximum number of points or rings possible in the respective discipline, the classification into the C-team, from 80% into the B-team and from 90% into the A-team. The cadre classification then takes place at the end of the sporting year, it is only shown for the sporting year in which it was achieved and entitles the shooter to wear the badge 'cadre shooter'.

Master rating

Badge master marksman of the DSU

The master classes of the DSU are top-class and meaningful evaluations that make it possible to compare the handgun performance shooters of the DSU with one another, regardless of age, gender, individual discipline and caliber.

The qualification of the master marksman of the DSU can currently only be obtained at the German championship of the DSU.

The shooter must take part in the disciplines K13, K27 and K36 with the handgun. All disciplines must be shot with the same weapon in the same caliber. Similar to the cadre classification, a percentage performance of the possible overall result of the sum of the three disciplines is assessed: 70%: bronze 80%: silver 90%: gold

A shooter who achieves a master's degree is entitled to wear the master marksman badge .

Disciplines

In the disciplines of the DSU, a rating is carried out separately according to age class and gender as well as according to caliber groups.

Short weapon disciplines All short weapon disciplines are organized according to pistol and revolver as well as open sights or red dot sights.
