German savings and credit bank

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Savings and Credit Bank AG (DSK Bank) was a bank based in Munich . It was founded by Merck Finck & Co (75%) and Auditing and Treuhand-Gesellschaft (25%) in 1965. The bank had 33 branches, mainly in the Munich, Frankfurt am Main and Hamburg area .

history

The branch network in the Hamburg area comes from the takeover of Waren-Kreditgesellschaft (WKB). In 1968 the branches were spun off into the newly founded Nordbank AG, in which the Neue Sparcasse von 1864 and the Deutsche Spar- und Kreditbank AG each held 50 percent. A partner was also sought for the branches in the Frankfurt area. This led to the establishment of Bankenunion AG with Frankfurter Sparkasse (30%), Württembergische Landessparkasse (30%), Deutsche Spar- und Kreditbank (30%) and Nordbank (10%). The newly founded banking union had a share capital of ten million DM. With the entry of Naspa , the stake was reduced to 28.33 percent.

In September 1988 the Munich branch of Edekabank was taken over. The sale of the banking house Merck Finck & Co in 1988 by August von Finck to the British bank Barclays did not include DSK Bank.

Together with Allgemeine Privatkundenbank AG , Berliner Bank took over DSK Bank from sole shareholder August von Finck in 1993.

In 1995 the Berliner Bank took over the 60.78 percent stake in Allgemeine Privatkundenbank AG. This was done in preparation for the merger with Allgemeine Privatkundenbank AG.

Business figures

The share capital in 1967 was five million DM , the reserves 500,000 DM and the deposits 54.2 million DM.

At the beginning of 1985 the share capital was increased by three million DM to 37.4 million DM. With an increase in the balance sheet total to DM 821 million, the positive business development continued. It was also possible to increase the equity capital to 34.1 million DM, compared to 31.9 million DM in the previous year. In 1986 the balance sheet total was increased by 15% to DM 944 million. The exceeding of the balance sheet total of one billion could be “celebrated” in 1987. Compared to 1986 an increase of 8.2% to 1.021 billion DM could be achieved. For the business year 1988 the DSK Bank was able to announce an expansion of the balance sheet total to 1.29 billion DM. This was an increase of 12.2% compared to 1987. The balance sheet total in 1989 was 1.29 billion DM.

An increase in the bank's equity capital to DM 81.3 million and its own funds, through the provision of DM 3.3 million in the 1990 annual profit, to DM 64.8 million should secure the future expansion of the bank into the new federal states. The balance sheet total rose to DM 1.52 billion in 1990, an increase of 12.7 percent compared to 1989.

With 350 employees, DSK Bank achieved total assets of 1.8 billion DM in 1992.
