German age award

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Age Award is an award given by the Robert Bosch Foundation . The prize was awarded annually from 2012 to 2016. The winners were announced each year at an award ceremony. The age award honored initiatives and personalities in public life who through their work "contribute in an outstanding way to a positive image of age in society". In addition to prizes selected from the nominated applicants, the (non-endowed) Otto Mühlschlegel Prize for special services to old age could also be awarded.

patronage

The current Federal Minister for Family Affairs took over the patronage for the award . In 2013, then Family Minister Kristina Schröder declared :

"The German Age Award makes the achievements, commitment and merits of older people visible and thus paints a multi-faceted picture of age that does justice to the diversity of this phase of life to a much greater extent than the image of old age in many minds."

Her successor Manuela Schwesig declared in 2014:

"The German Age Award makes known good examples of life in old age, but also good examples of how you can get involved with and for older people."
