from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Naturheilbund e. V. was founded in 1889 as the umbrella organization of German naturopathic associations. The 50 independent naturopathic associations affiliated with it represent around 10,000 members. The headquarters of the federal office of the German Naturheilbund is in Bauschlott Castle in Neulingen .

history

In the first half of the 19th century societies emerged, the supernatural folk understandable informed Healing. They were encouraged to do this by the medicinal farmer Vinzenz Prießnitz (1799-1851), who prescribed the healing power of water in combination with nutrition, exercise, light and air as a successful stimulus and regulation therapy . He treated around 40,000 patients in his Graefenberg sanatorium in Austria-Silesia. Vinzenz Prießnitz designed the foundation of classical naturopathy , which was cultivated in many regional Prießnitz associations and "associations for people-understandable medicine".

In 1889 the "German Federation of Associations for Health Care and Drug-Free Healing" was founded. In 1900 it changed its name to the "German Federation of Associations for Natural Living and Healing". In 1912 this umbrella organization united 899 local associations with almost 150,000 members. The association owned a publishing house that published the journal Der Naturarzt under the editorial management of Paul Schirrmeister and later Franz Schönenberger .

Since 1927, the association had the first teaching hospital for naturopathy, the Prießnitz hospital in Berlin-Mahlow , which was attached to a chair for naturopathy at the Charité . The National Socialist Alfred Brauchle was the head of the Preißnitz Hospital from 1929 to 1934.

In 1999, on the occasion of his 200th birthday, Vinzenz Prießnitz was recognized by UNESCO in the cultural heritage calendar for his services to natural medicine. In 2014, the German Naturheilbund organized a two-day anniversary congress in Pforzheim to mark its 125th anniversary. A detailed commemorative publication was published about this.

tasks

The German Natural Healing Association (DNB for short) is recognized as a non-profit, politically and denominationally neutral. He finances his work from membership fees and donations. Together with the associations, it makes an essential contribution to public health promotion in accordance with the statutes. The DNB has an impact on health policy and health education and demands that naturopathy become a complementary component in medical education and training. The accompanying publication is the member's body "Naturarzt", which has appeared since 1863.
An annual "Naturopathy Day" (entered in the BZgA calendar on the 2nd weekend in October) informs the population about active prevention and the variety of therapies in alternating key topics. From 2008 the topics were: Hydrology, Exercise Therapy, The Healing Power of Nutrition, Herbal Medicine, Life Balance and Environmental Influences, Trusting Nature and Life. From the beginning the German Naturheilbund promoted the naturopathic lay education; this task was resumed in 2012 with an apprenticeship as a “Naturopathic Consultant DNB”. The course imparts basic naturopathic knowledge for everyday life and healing practice and covers the spectrum of modern naturopathy.
