Jürgen Helfricht

Jürgen Helfricht (* 1963 in Dresden ) is a German journalist , medical and astronomy historian .

Helfricht was a student at the Dresden Kreuzschule and studied journalism at the University of Leipzig from 1985 to 1989 . He was briefly editor-in-chief of the specialist journal Astronomie und Raumfahrt and has worked for Axel Springer SE since 1991 , since 1993 as chief reporter for the Dresden local editorial team of Bild-Zeitung . The media watch blog Bildblog repeatedly criticized Helfricht's articles.

In 2004 he was awarded a medical-historical work at the Palacký University in Olomouc ( The pioneer of the naturopathic movement Vincenz Prießnitz 1799-1851 and the reception of his hydrotherapy in German-speaking countries until 1918 ), which was supervised by the director of the Institute for the History of Medicine at the TU Dresden , PhD . For this work, published by the Matthiesen-Verlag (publishing group Husum) , the German Naturheilbund awarded him the "Prießnitz Medal" on the 125th anniversary of the association in 2014.

Jürgen Helfricht, a great-grandson of the painter Josef Goller , lives in Radebeul , is married and has a son.

Since 1987, Helfricht has written around 70 publications, including biographies and books on Dresden, reference works, works on holistic and orthodox medicine, on architecture, astronomy, church, cultural and economic history.
