German pain award

The German Pain Prize (German Prize for Pain Research and Pain Therapy) is a prize that has been awarded by the German Society for Pain Medicine since 1986 . The prize was donated by the pharmaceutical research company Mundipharma and is endowed with € 10,000. From 2019, the prize will be there at € 5,000 and will be jointly donated by the German Society for Pain Medicine (DGS) and the German Pain League (DSL) for the first time without commercial support from the pharmaceutical industry. An honorary award sponsored by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries is worth € 3,000.

Award

The award ceremony takes place during the annual German Pain and Palliative Day in Frankfurt am Main in cooperation with the German Pain League .

This award is given to personalities or organizations who have made a name for themselves through scientific work on the diagnosis and therapy of acute and chronic pain conditions or who have made a decisive contribution to the understanding of the problem area of pain and the patients affected by it through their work or public work .

The aim is to promote algesiology as the science of pain, to improve pain therapy care, further education and training and the aim is also to arouse general interest and understanding for the pain disorder, for pain patients and for the various methods of pain therapy.
