Stone Husebø

Stein Husebø or written Stein Husebö (born October 11, 1944 near Bergen , Norway ) is a Norwegian medic. He is the head of the department for pain therapy and palliative medicine at the university hospital in Bergen, Norway.

Life

Husebø studied medicine in Lübeck and Graz . Since 1984 he has been the chief editor of the Scandinavian magazine for palliative medicine . In 1988 he founded the Scandinavian Society for Palliative Medicine . He is also a founding member of the European Society for Palliative Medicine . Husebø has been a visiting researcher in medical and interdisciplinary fields in various European cities since 1995 . In addition to numerous publications in specialist journals, Husebø is the author of several books.

Husebø has also earned merit in Germany with his work on the dignity of the dying and their relatives. He succeeded in dignified portraying the significance of the last phase of life on a scientific level. He has made a name for himself in pain therapy in national and international specialist societies.

He is married to the German doctor Bettina Sandgathe Husebø, who also works in the field of palliative medicine and sits on the board of trustees of the German Foundation for Patient Protection. Husebø has 6 children and lives in Bergen.
