tasks and goals

According to its own statements, the association's aim is to create a future-oriented, innovative and competitive telecommunications and media market in harmony with consumers, politics and business . The DVTM wants to achieve prevention and self-regulation for new innovative business models as well as the successful establishment of self-regulating and consumer-protecting market standards.

The members act voluntarily within the framework of the German Code for Telecommunications and Media , which is published by the DVTM. The code formulates industry standards and enables them to actively shape the market. It is regularly updated by a commission of experts. A Code Advisory Board made up of telecommunications, media and regulation experts is to ensure through regular exchange that the Code takes up current and timely regulatory deficits and reacts preventively to market developments.

background

The DVTM emerged in February 2011 from the Association for Voluntary Self-Control of Added Value Telephone Services (FST), which was founded in 1997 . The FST was an amalgamation primarily of content and service providers as well as network operators and focused in particular on classic information and value-added services . Due to the increasing convergence of telecommunications and media as well as other changing framework conditions, the association broadened its range of topics. Today the DVTM wants to dedicate itself to all topics that companies and consumers encounter in the convergent telecommunications and media market.
