James Devlin (* 1989 in Dagenham , London ), known as Devlin , is a British grime musician.
biography
At the age of 13, Devlin started as an MC for various radio stations, where he was discovered by Dogzilla and brought into the OT crew . He released his first mixtape in 2006 and gained greater fame when Kanye West posted a video of his freestyling performance on his blog.
His breakthrough came when he was listed on the BBC's Sound of 2010 list , the expert forecast for the following year's successful newcomers. It led to a recording deal with Island Records and to his debut single Brainwashed , which was released in August 2010 and landed in the top 40 straight away. His first album Bud, Sweat and Beers was released at the end of the year and reached number 21 on the album charts.
Devlin was nominated for Best Newcomer at the MOBO Awards .
