Giggs
Giggs (born May 11, 1983 ; real name Nathaniel Thompson ), also known as Hollowman , is a British rapper from the London borough of Peckham .
Career
Nathaniel Thompson left school at the age of 16. He got his nickname because of his laughing ( giggling ). When he was 20, he was sentenced to two years in prison for a gun offense. He then released a few mixtapes alone - as Hollowman and as Giggs - and together with his crew Spare No 1 (SN1) before his debut album Walk in da Park was released in 2008 . It didn't bring him commercial success, but it did get a place on the UK R&B charts. More important was the positive media criticism and the recognition of the expert jury at the BET Awards , which voted him the best UK act that same year.
This helped him to a record deal with XL Recordings . Even before he released his second album, the BBC 's Sound of… prediction in early 2010 predicted the imminent breakthrough. Let Em Ave It was released in June and actually made it into the top 40 of the official UK album charts . He also had two single hits with Look What the Cat Dragged In and Don't Go There , a collaboration with US rapper BoB , who had recently had his own breakthrough with a number one album.
On his next album When Will It Stop , Giggs worked with Ed Sheeran , Anthony Hamilton and Styles P. among others in 2013 and was able to build on the success of the predecessor. 2015 he was a guest on the album Integrity of Jme represented. Their joint song Man Don't Care only barely made it into the top 100, but still achieved silver status for 200,000 units sold.
The following year, the fourth album Landlord was released on their own label, SN1 Records . This made him jump up to number 2 on the charts. The single Lock Doh earned him his first own silver award. In March 2017 he was featured in two songs on the Canadian rapper Drake's album More Life . Since album sales and streaming now also counted for the single charts, it not only brought him the two highest single placements in the UK charts, but also two placements in the US single charts .
