Dezibelles ( proper spelling : dezibelles ) is a Swiss a cappella quartet from Zurich .

history

Dezibelles was founded in September 2009 by four active members of the Zurich Youth Choir. The ensemble has dedicated itself to a cappella singing in all its forms and specializes in soundscapes from classical to international folk music to pop and jazz. It has already been a guest at the Zurich acapellanight, the a cappella festival in Rorschach , the a cappella festival in Pfäffikon and the a cappella festival Winterthur .

The vocal quartet first achieved international fame in 2015, when, after winning the double win through the jury and audience award at the preliminary decision in Berlin, it was also able to receive a first jury award at the finals of the youth cultural sponsorship award in Hamburg . This was followed by engagements beyond the Swiss borders as far as northern France. In 2018, during the international a cappella competition in Leipzig , Dezibelles was awarded the amarcord special prize for the outstanding interpretation of the piece Lueget, vo Berg und Tal sung without microphone amplification, and in 2019 the 1st jury prize at the “Vocal Champs Contest” in Germany Sendenhorst excellent. The quartet has been on the road with a new, fully professional line-up since summer 2018.

repertoire

Dezibelles sing a stylistically broad repertoire from 400 years of music history in arrangements mainly written for the group by Andrea Fischer. Live performances are carefully staged and complemented by comedic elements. The focus is on overall cross-genre concepts. The signorine delle cime program was performed in several Swiss SAC huts in 2013 and a palace tour was carried out for the heir to the throne program .
