Dezső Bundzsák (born May 3, 1928 in Kiskunhalas , † October 1, 2010 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian football player and coach .

Career

Club career

In his professional career from 1950 to 1964, the striker played a total of 249 football matches for Vasas Budapest , scoring 73 goals. With Vasas he won the Hungarian championship title in 1957, 1961 and 1962. He also took part with the team in the European Cup of National Champions 1957/58 , where the team made it to the semi-finals and only lost 4-2 after a round trip against Real Madrid . In the end, Bundzsák finished fourth in the tournament's top scorer list.

National team

From 1956 to 1961 he was part of the Hungarian national team . He played a total of 25 competitive games and scored one goal. He took part with Hungary in the 1958 World Cup in Sweden .

Coaching career

After his career as a player, he worked as a coach in Greece (including Pierikos Katerini , Panionios Athens , Apollon Smyrnis and Panachaiki ) as well as his hometown club Vasas Budapest and smaller clubs in Hungary. He also coached the Egyptian national team from 1979 to 1980 . Dezső Bundzsák was reappointed in 1995 to take over the Hungarian women's national team until he resigned a year later and finally ended his coaching career.

Dezső Bundzsák died on October 1, 2010 at the age of 82 in Budapest .
