history
DiaMed was founded in 1977 by experts in laboratory medicine . The aim was to offer simple, safe and reliable test systems. The company initially produced liquid-stable enzyme - reagents , solutions with low ionic strength (LISS), liquid coagulation reagents and cell washing centrifuges .
The company's breakthrough came in 1988 with the introduction of a system used for gel testing , which fundamentally changed the methodology used in blood group serology . In the years that followed, DiaMed established itself as a global leader in immunohematology. In October 2007, Bio-Rad Laboratories , an international manufacturer and supplier of products for research and diagnostic systems for clinical laboratories, acquired 77.7 percent of the shares in DiaMed Holding.
