Diacetoxyscirpenol (abbreviated DAS ), also called Anguidin , is a mycotoxin (mold toxin ) from the group of type A trichothecenes and a Fusarium toxin . It arises as a metabolic product of fungi of the genus Fusarium and can cause toxicosis in farm animals .
Diacetoxyscirpenol inhibits protein synthesis , which leads to the death of rapidly dividing cells. It was therefore tested for its effectiveness as a cancer cure until the 1980s .
