Diamantis Panagiotopoulos

Diamantis Panagiotopoulos ( Greek Διαμαντής Παναγιωτόπουλος ; born July 6, 1967 in Athens ) is a Greek classical archaeologist .

Diamantis Panagiotopoulos studied Classical Archeology, Prehistory and Protohistory, Ancient History and Art History at the University of Athens from 1985 to 1989 . In 1989 he received his diploma there. In 1996 he received his doctorate at the University of Heidelberg with the thesis Das Tholosgrab E in the necropolis of Phourni (Archanes). Studies of a northern Mesara burial culture outpost . From 1998 to 2001 he was a postdoctoral researcher on the structure of the Mycenaean economy; From 1999 to 2003 he worked as a lecturer in Heidelberg and Salzburg. In 2003 he completed his habilitation in Classical Archeology in Salzburg with a thesis on the Mycenaean seal practice. Since 2003 he has been a professor at the Institute for Classical Archeology in Heidelberg, which he has been managing director since 2008. Since 2009 he has been a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute .
