Diana Ingenhoff

Diana Ingenhoff (* 1971 in Duisburg ) is a German communication scientist . She teaches as a full professor for media and communication studies at the Department of Communication Studies and Media Research (DCM) at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) . Her main research interests are organizational communication , communication management , public diplomacy and international public relations research.

Life

After training as a bank clerk , she completed a master's degree in communications , economics and psychology at the University of Essen , which she graduated in 1999. From 2002 to 2005 she headed the Center for Corporate Communication at the Institute for Media and Communication Management at the University of St. Gallen . There she became a Dr. oec. PhD in 2003 with a dissertation on “Issues Management in International Companies” with Peter Glotz and Beat Schmid. In 2005 she was appointed professor at the University of Freiburg. In 2010 she completed her habilitation with a thesis on "Organizational Communication and Communication Management in the Media Society: Theoretical Approaches and Empirical Evidence" at the University of St. Gallen.

For her research, she and her project partner Telekom Austria received the German PR Prize awarded by the Deutsche Public Relations Gesellschaft in 2007 in the category "Value creation through communication" with a project for the integrated measurement of reputation ("Integrated Reputation Management System") as well as various Best Paper Awards.

In 2014 she was elected President of the Swiss Society for Communication and Media Studies (SGKM) and in 2016 she was re-elected in this office. In 2016 she founded the ICA's first international Public Diplomacy Interest Group , and was elected to chair it. Since 2016 she has been Executive Director of the European Public Relations Education and Research Association ( EUPRERA ). From 2015 to 2017 she was Arthur W. Page Legacy Fellow with a project on corporate social and political responsibility. Since 2017 she has been a Research Fellow of the Center on Public Diplomacy (CPD) at Annenberg School, University of Southern California .

She is a member of the editorial boards of Public Relations Review, Public Relations Inquiry, and International Journal of Strategic Communication.
