Diana Lynn
Diana Lynn (born Eartha Loehr on July 5, 1926 in Los Angeles , California , † December 18, 1971 in New York City , New York ) was an American actress and pianist.
Life
Diana Lynn enjoyed the reputation of a child prodigy, and at the age of 12 she was allowed to play in the Los Angeles Youth Symphony Orchestra. Consequently, she made her film debut in 1939 at the age of 13 as a piano player in the musical film Music for Life . She was also a successful actress in this branch from adolescence, for example, she demonstrated her comedic talent as a little friend and ally of Ginger Rogers in The Major and the Girl from 1942, who made the American directorial debut of Billy Wilder . This was followed by major appearances as a precocious girl in the Preston-Sturges comedy Sensation in Morgan's Creek (1944) and in Every Girl Should Marry (1948) alongside Cary Grant . In the mid-1940s, Lynn made the leap into the adult subject without any problems and played the leading role in the adventure film Robin Hood's Retribution (1950). In the early 1950s she starred alongside Jerry Lewis in the Irma films.
In 1955 she starred again alongside Lewis in the comedy You're Never Too Young (a remake of The Major and the Girl ). In the same year she was also seen in the western The Kentucky Man , the directorial debut of Burt Lancaster . Then she withdrew from the film business, but was seen more often as a guest actress in television series and as a stage actress - for example on Broadway ; she was also busy with her work as a pianist. In 1956 she married Mortimer Hall, the son of the well-known newspaper publisher Dorothy Schiff . Lynn and Hall were happily married and had four children. Shortly before her death, Lynn was contacted to make her comeback as the wife of Anthony Perkins in a movie. Diana Lynn agreed but suffered a stroke before filming began , from which she died nine days later at the age of only 45. It has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame , one for film and one for television.
