Diana Norman
Diana Norman (born Mary Diana Narracott ; born August 25, 1933 in London , † January 27, 2011 in Hertfordshire ) also known under the pseudonym Ariana Franklin , was a British writer and biographer.
Life
At the beginning of the Second World War , Diana and her parents spent a short time of their childhood with a well-to-do uncle of their father in London. The constant air raids by Hitler Germany on London caused the mother and her young daughter to move to the country, to Torquay in the county of Devon . Lack of support from wealthy relatives and the parents' divorce shortly afterwards resulted in a very humble life for the mother and daughter.
Diana, then Narracott, left school at the age of 15 in order to contribute financially to a living. Like her father, the Times correspondent , she was interested in journalism and went to London for a daily newspaper when she was 17. At the age of 20 she was already a reporter on Fleet Street , the traditional home of the British press.
Diana Norman married the film critic Barry Norman and gave up her full-time journalistic activity. After the birth of two daughters, she also studied medieval history . From the mid-1990s, she published several internationally successful historical novels, initially under her own name. Since 2006 she has been writing historical thrillers in her Mistress of the Art of Death series with the protagonist Adelia Aguilar under the pseudonym Ariana Franklin .
Diana Norman lived with her husband in Hertfordshire until her death.
