Diane Disney Miller
Diane Disney Miller (born Diane Marie Disney ; born December 18, 1933 in Los Angeles , California - † November 19, 2013 in Napa , California) was an American patroness .
Life
Diane Marie Disney was born in 1933 as the only biological child of the film producer Walt Disney and his wife Lillian Disney . Her adoptive sister was Sharon Mae Disney (1936-1993).
In 1956 she published the eight-part article series My Dad, Walt Disney in the Saturday Evening Post in collaboration with Pete Martin . A year later appeared with The Story of Walt Disney, a biography of her father again written by her with Pete Martin.
In the 1970s, she and her husband bought their first wineries in the Napa Valley AVA . In 1981 they founded Silverado Vineyards there .
Disney Miller supported the construction of the Walt Disney Concert Hall and was seen as a proponent of Frank Gehry's controversial design .
She was President of the Board of Directors of the Walt Disney Family Foundation, which operates the Walt Disney Family Museum .
From 1954 until her death, she was married to the film producer Ron Miller . She died on November 19, 2013 as a result of a fall she suffered in September 2013. She left her husband, seven children and 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. The film Saving Mr. Banks , in which Tom Hanks played Walt Disney, was released shortly after her death and is dedicated to her.
