Napa is a port city on the Napa River in the US state of California , United States , with 80,416 inhabitants (as of 2016). It is located in Napa County and is its county seat .
The city is a center for wine making and tourism. The most important industrial products include sheet metal , building materials, leather goods and clothing. The first settlers in the region planted vineyards as early as the 1830s, and the city developed in the late 1850s, during the gold and silver rush .
The urban area has a size of 46.1 km².
