Richard Otis "Dick" Meredith (born December 22, 1932 in South Bend , Indiana ) is a retired American ice hockey player . At the 1960 Winter Olympics , he won the gold medal as a member of the US national team. His younger brother Wayne Meredith was also an Olympian in ice hockey.

Career

Dick Meredith began his career as a hockey player at the University of Minnesota , which he attended from 1951 to 1955, while he played parallel for their ice hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . The attacker then spent a year with Team USA preparing for the Olympic Games. In the 1956/57 season he played for the amateur team Minneapolis Bungalows, before he spent another three years in the Olympic preparation of Team USA. From 1960 to 1963 he was on the ice for the Minneapolis Millers in the professional International Hockey League . Between 1961 and 1963 he also appeared for the amateur teams Minneapolis Rebels and St. Paul Steers. He then ended his career at the age of 30.

International

For the United States Meredith took part in the Winter Olympics in 1956 in Cortina d'Ampezzo and 1960 in Squaw Valley part. At the 1956 Winter Games he and his team won the silver medal and the gold medal at the 1960 Winter Games. He was also in his country's squad at the 1958 and 1959 World Championships .
