The Adventures of Captain Bontekoe's Cabin Boy - The Curse of the Tides is a Dutch adventure film directed by Steven de Jong and based on the novella Captain Bontekoe's Cabin boy by Johan Fabricius . The film was released on November 22, 2007 in the Netherlands, bears the German TV title Storm Bound - Adventure on the High Seas and was shown for the first time on German television on August 31, 2012.

Netherlands, in the 17th century: the boys Hajo, Rolf and Padde only have one dream - go to sea! When Captain Bontekoe arrives in their port with his ship of the Dutch East India Company and wants to hire sailors for the trip to East India, the friends don't hesitate for a second. But the challenges that the grueling journey holds in store for them exceed their wildest expectations. After a dramatic shipwreck and attack by the natives of Sumatra, a struggle for survival begins.
