The old robbers are a national carnival group and one of the largest from the Wolbeck district of Münster with 60 members.

The Old Robbers were founded in 1992 by a small group of carnival-loving friends. Since then, the association has been involved in the carnival parade on Billy goat Monday . They have also been regular participants in the Rose Monday parade in Münster for many years .

The association is not only active in the Wolbeck district, but also in all of Münster and outside of it, including in Cologne .

The old robbers are often associated with the figure of the robber Hotzenplotz by the children's book author Otfried Preußler , especially since for many years a cardboard Hotzenplotz figure several meters tall adorned the moving van of the old robbers. In 2011 the cardboard cutout was replaced by an inflatable balloon in the shape of a robber.

The association is regularly represented in various media. They are reported in the local newspapers , the Münsterschen Zeitung and the Westfälische Nachrichten , but also nationally, for example in the WDR and in the Bild .

Annual session appearances

Each year a session theme is selected, which is partly based on local politics or events in and around the Wolbeck district of Münster and then adapted to the carnival.

In 2010 they were active as a protective force for the mayor of Münster and honorary member of the robbers Markus Lewe . They first appeared on January 24, 2010 at the Coerder Carnival Club. On February 14, 2010, the old robbers defended the Münster City Hall against City Prince Andreas I. Koch in a production for the press, radio and television and thus once again supported Lewe.

Groups within the band of robbers

The Old Raiders are divided into the following groups:

  • the band of robbers who form the core of the Old Robbers.
  • the honor robbers, who are named at irregular intervals. Among them are carnival fans who have particularly distinguished themselves in a certain way.
  • the titular robbers who have received a special title in the robber gang .
  • the interns the robber candidates are.
  • the young robbers, the children's group of the carnival group.
  • the majority, which forms the organizational team within the robbers.

The musical department of the old robbers is called the forest and meadow chapel .
