The Germans and their neighbors

The Germans and their neighbors is an applied at twelve volumes series of books dealing with the history, society and culture of Central and immediate neighboring countries of Germany apart sets. According to the two editors, Helmut Schmidt and Richard von Weizsäcker , the series should contribute to deepening the understanding of our European neighbors.

The authors involved, mostly journalists and / or historians, submitted short monographs of around 170 to 270 pages on the respective countries . While eight volumes deal with Germany's direct neighbors, four titles are dedicated to the indirect neighbors Great Britain , Italy , Russia and Spain . Michael Erbe's Belgium-Luxembourg volume is the only title in the series that is dedicated to two neighboring countries.
