The woman is gone ( Жена ушла Schena uschla ) is a Soviet feature film directed by Dinara Assanowa from the year 1980 .

action

Alexander, who is called Sascha, comes home a little earlier because he wants to see a volleyball game on television. When he arrived, he learned from his wife Wera that their 10-year-old son Vitja had their school bag stolen. The mood in the apartment is irritable, but the problem cannot be resolved. The mood does not improve even when eating, since cooking is not the housewife's strong point and even Vitja, who is called mother's son by her father, has to laugh about it. When Vitja expresses the wish to watch a crime thriller on TV, he is yelled at by Sascha because he wants to see his sports program. That's why he doesn't listen when Wera tells him that she has been offered an interesting job in the company, but declares her stupid because she bothers him while watching TV. Then father and son scream at each other again. Although Sascha and Wera assure each other that they love each other, Sascha does not realize that his wife has a new hairstyle, then he falls asleep in the armchair while Wera cries.

After a bad dream, Sascha wakes up in the middle of the night and looks for his wife in the whole apartment. Since he couldn't find her there, he kept looking on the street so that people were already complaining about his loud shouts. Back home, he tells his son, who is already awake, that his mother is on a business trip. He doesn't believe that, however, because he has found a piece of paper that says that she is leaving Sascha and that she will catch up with Vitja when the opportunity arises.

Then Vitja goes to school and Sascha to the construction site, where he works as a construction manager. After a control by the building inspection authorities, he tries to call Wera's best friend Tanja, who he suspects is Wera. He reaches her there too, but she doesn't want to speak to him. Memories run through his head all day. When they got to know each other, he then remembered a situation in which he was violent towards Wera because he was jealous of Stepan, or how he expressed himself disparagingly about her. Then there was the company party, after which he ended up in bed with his colleague Sonja. He has to think about that when Tanja tells him on the phone that Wera will initially live with her and Sonja learns from Sascha that his wife has left him.

While Sascha thinks about the fact that he hasn't done anything wrong in their life together, he lets the happy days pass by. Then he goes to Tanja with a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of cognac to persuade Wera to come back home. With great reluctance he apologizes for everything that has been, but Wera realizes that it is not meant seriously. When she does not respond to his request, he insults her loudly. He accuses her of being just a little librarian who will get gray hair in two years and would be nothing without him. Then Sascha emphasizes that he will keep the son, whom he never looked after seriously. Then he leaves with the words that he will wait for her to come home and apologize to him.

When Sascha arrives back home, his son is already waiting for him, but he hoped that his mother will be with him. Vitja now says that his satchel was not stolen, but that he was only afraid because of a six at school. Then both of them eat the bean soup with meatballs that Vitja prepared because he thought that father and mother would come home together. Then Tanja calls that Wera is on her way to the airport. Sascha goes there with his son too, but they can only see the aircraft taking off.
