Die LottoKönige is a German television series from 2012. It is an adaptation of the Austrian television series Die Lottosieger .

action

The König family is a typical family from the city of Essen in the Ruhr area . However, their life changes when they win € 12 million in the lottery. On the advice of psychologist Dr. They don't tell Rüdiger Rössler about their happiness, not even their son Theo and sister Elfie. At the center of the action are the efforts of the König family to hide their profits, the attempt to increase their standard of living, and typical family quarrels.

main characters

Rudi King

Rudi is Claudia's husband and Theo's father. He works with his best friend Bülent for a money transport company. He shares mutual dislike for one another with his East German boss and regularly collects reminders from her. He tries by all means to hide the lottery win and not to attract attention as a millionaire. So he still plays the lottery despite the win so that no one can guess that he and his family are the winners of the jackpot. Rudi is also chairman of the Adleraugen Essen-Steele dart club . When he's not at work or at home, you will very likely find him in his favorite pub, Golombek .

He's a rather easy-going character and always tries to avoid excessive exertion. In the circle of the family he tries at every opportunity to mimic the head of the family, which he never succeeds with his wife Claudia. During a medical check-up, he is, as usual, prescribed more exercise and less beer.

Claudia King

Claudia is the wife of Rudi and the mother of Theo. In contrast to her husband, she tries to enjoy the large amount of money and therefore regularly treats herself to new accessories, which always makes her husband white-hot. Claudia is a very familiar person and always tries to keep in touch with all family members. So she tries almost manically to establish a friendly relationship with Theo's girlfriend and to prevent him from moving out. Her mother-in-law is exempt from this urge, and she constantly bursts into the apartment without prior notice. Claudia works as a cleaner in an advertising agency, which she can save from bankruptcy with a brilliant idea. In several situations she knows how to assert herself against her husband and can convince him of her opinion through clever tactics.

Theo King

Theo is the son of Claudia and Rudi. At the beginning of the series he begins studying musicals at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, which his father does not particularly approve of. Because of this decision, he is initially suspected of being homosexual. This only changes when he presents his girlfriend, who is also studying musicals, to everyone. His parents hide the lottery win from him, but at the end of the second season he reveals that he knew about the win all along.

Helga King

Helga is Rudi's widowed mother. She lives in the same house as her family and often comes unannounced to her family's apartment with the spare key, something Claudia is always upset about. Due to her share of the golden ticket, she enjoys the unexpected windfall, like her daughter-in-law, but is not as careful as she is. For example, she plays poker with the ignorant caretaker for large sums of money. After Theo has set up a laptop for her, Helga has fun in the world of online dating and has irregular visits from men, none of whom appear more than once.

Elfie Heck

Elfie is Claudia's sister. She runs a hair salon where her sister is a regular customer. Claudia is instrumental in ensuring that she and the lottery company's psychologist, Dr. Rüdiger Rössler, comes together because Elfie has not had a particularly good hand in choosing her partner in the past. So she had an affair for a long time with the married Hannes, owner of a local drugstore, would-be playboy and friend of Rudi. In seasons 1 and 2 Elfie is extremely naive and Claudia always has to steer her in the right direction. Only when the relationship with Rüdiger bears fruit does she become more self-confident and even ignore his better knowledge.

Dr. Rüdiger Rössler

Dr. Rüdiger Rössler is the lottery company's psychologist who is tasked with looking after the König family in dealing with their new winnings. He makes friends with Claudia very quickly and falls in love with her sister Elfie the first time they meet. However, since he is a somewhat clumsy, very reserved, almost shy person, he does not initially dare to invite her on a rendezvous . Thanks to Claudia's haircutting vouchers, he visits Elfie's hairdressing salon several times a week to get his hair cut. At the threat of Elfi's employee that he should finally invite his boss to a romantic dinner, otherwise he would go bald, he spoke to Elfie with this intention. Coupled with Claudia's encouragement, the two become a couple at the end of the first season.
