content
The 60 episodes of the five seasons revolve around the adventures of the raccoon Bert Raccoon and his friends Ralph Raccoon and Melissa Raccoon in the evergreen forest . As the publisher of the local newspaper “Immergrüner Standard”, you are committed to saving the forest from the environmentally harmful undertakings of businessman Cyril Sneer , a pink aardvark . Cyril is the boss of three incompetent piglets (whose names appear in one episode as Lloyd , Floyd and Boyd ), whose main job is to educate him about the raccoons. Cyril's son Cedric Sneer , who is also Bert's best friend, secretly supports the heroes in their fight against the reprehensible machinations of his father.
An independent element of the series can be seen in the fact that in the course of the story Cyril changes from the nefarious capitalist to the occasional comrade-in-arms of the Raccoons, who is still concerned about his economic advantage, but whose actions show an increasing degree of ecological responsibility. Instead, the businessman Mr. Knox , a crocodile married to the hen Lady Baden-Baden , gradually takes on the role of the heroes' main opponent. In the 40th episode "Bert's great love" the pretty Lisa Raccoon also has her first appearance, in which Bert falls in love immediately.

Production and publication
In the English-language original, the animated series was first broadcast by Disney Channel in the USA between 1985 and 1991. Before the actual start of the series, four specials were produced from 1980 to 1984: "Christmas Without Trees" (1980), "The Ice Hockey Game" (1981), "The Little Yellow Star" (1983) and "Let's Dance!" 1984). With a playing time of 45 minutes, only “The Little Yellow Star” is about twice as long as a normal series episode.
The new wave soundtrack was created by Gillis and Lisa Lougheed . Among other things, Lougheed was the singer of the closing credits song "Run With Us", which was in the charts in Canada for a few weeks and was covered in 2004 by the synth-pop band Spray .
The series has been available in German on DVD since September 2009.
