Jonathan of the Bears is a Western drama from Enzo Castellari from 1993. title character and story are on Castellaris spaghetti western Keoma ajar (1976). In turn, the film draws a wide arc from the genre classic Django . Franco Nero plays the protagonist in all three westerns.

Young Jonathan Kowalski's family is murdered by a gang of criminals. Jonathan escapes the carnage by hiding in a bear den. There he meets a young bear who is also an orphan . Jonathan grew up with him until he was accepted by an Indian tribe and raised like a son by the chief. Although he can assert himself in the tribe and win the love of the beautiful Indian Shaya, he is increasingly tortured by the unpunished crime against his family. When the rich oil tycoon Fred Goodwin tries to drive the Indian tribe off his land, Jonathan takes on a hopeless fight against Goodwin's armed pack. He is captured and crucified on a church tower.
