The rocket (Nuremberg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Die Rakete is a techno club in Nuremberg that is widely known due to its importance in the house and techno scene. It is located in the southern district of Dianastraße in an industrial area on Vogelweiherstraße.

history

The club opened for the first time in September 2003 and initially devoted itself more to the Britpop genre on weekends and concerts in general during the week. Sportfreunde Stiller , Deichkind , Klee , Angelika Express and Jeans Team have performed here, for example . Initially, the club only comprised rooms in the basement of the building and a small outdoor terrace, but has been enlarged several times over the years, so that there are now two dance floors on the ground floor and in the basement, as well as a cloakroom on the upper floor. The outdoor terrace, which was expanded in 2015, is also used as an additional floor in summer. Since 2007, the rocket has specialized in purely electronic music and serves primarily the genres of electro, tech house, minimal, deep house, techno and hard techno. In addition to national and international bookings, the club also offers local artists a platform. According to the company, there are also contacts to techno clubs in other cities. They also organize joint events with other nightclubs in the city.

reception

In 2014 the club was voted one of the top 10 best clubs in the world by readers of Groove magazine .

At the 2013 annual poll of FAZEmag , the rocket took 13th place among the best clubs in Germany, eleventh place in 2014, eighth in 2015 and tenth place in 2018. In 2015, the rocket was listed in a contribution by FAZEmag on position five of the 15 best German clubs.

Miscellaneous and special features

In Bavaria there is a so-called curfew from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. , during which clubs and bars have to close their businesses. An after -hour can therefore only take place again after a one-hour break from 6:00 a.m. Since February 2019, the rocket has been testing, in agreement with the city authorities, to postpone the Sunday curfew to 10:00 a.m. in order to be able to carry out events without interruption. As a compromise, the after hour, which previously took place until 12:00, was shortened by one hour.

In April 2020, the rocket was part of the United We Stream series together with the Nuremberg Club Haus 33 and three Munich discos , which are streaming live performances from various clubs around the world during the COVID-19 pandemic .

Furthermore, live performances were streamed from the Eucharius Chapel of the Egidienkirche in Nuremberg on Easter Vigil 2020 in cooperation with Club Haus 33 under the motto Church goes Clubbing: Dance into Life . It represents the first streaming of a techno event from a church. According to the pastor, the parish wants to show solidarity with the cultural scene by means of a virtual bell bag . The event took place as a replacement for a public techno party originally planned by House 33 in cooperation with the Lux Youth Church on March 21, 2020 under the name Techno-Church , which had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The so-called Techno Church has been provisionally postponed to January 31, 2021.
