Lord and Lady Willoughby, rich compatriots, want to go on a sea voyage because of Lady Willoughby's illness. Her daughter Bonnie and her cousin Sylvia stay behind with the strict teacher Miss Slighcarp. But this and her friend Mister Grimshaw, who previously befriended Sylvia, only have in mind to forge Lord Willoughby's will so that they inherit the property. So that the girls don't get in their way, they give Sylvia and Bonnie to an orphanage, which is run by their third friend, Misses Brisket. She paid the captain to sink the ship. However, Sylvia and Bonnie manage to escape with the help of the wild boy Simon. Together they defeat Slighcarp, and soon after Bonnie's parents return home.
