Kammersänger Löwenhaupt buys a live goose for the upcoming Christmas party, which is supposed to make a good roast. However, the family befriends the goose, "Auguste". Nobody wants to slaughter or even eat the animal. The Kammersänger also fails and Auguste stays in the family and becomes a playmate for the children.

At the national festival " Goldener Spatz " for children's films of the GDR in cinema and television in 1987 in Gera , the film received the mayor's 1987 special award Goldener Spatz .
