Die Zimmermänner (pseudonym: Skafighter , originally Ede & Die Zimmermänner ) was a Hamburg band of the Neue Deutsche Welle in the 1980s. The band released a new album in 2007.

Band history

Impressed by New Wave , high school students Timo Blunck and Detlef Diederichsen founded the band Ede & Die Zimmermänner in Hamburg in 1979 . Other band members were Blunck's sister Rica Blunck and the music student Christian Kellersmann ; later Hans-Jürgen Piel and Johann Michael Bley, who had previously played rhythm instruments in room 3 , were added to the group. The formation was initially called Ede & Die Zimmermänner , loosely based on the journalist Eduard Zimmermann , who at the time moderated the television program Aktenzeichen XY ... unsolved . They also appeared under the pseudonym Skafighter . Finally they shortened their band name to Die Zimmermänner .

The band played ska with elements from reggae and German lyrics written by Blunck and Diederichsen. They also covered the British band The Monochrome Set . First published in 1980 the singles Eva, Jürgen & Max , 1981 Anja and half a year until 1982, the debut album to make 1,001 ways sex without it to have fun with zigzag Records came out. This was followed by the album Zurück in der Zirkulation in 1983 and Goethe in 1984 , and an appearance on the television program Formula One , until the band split up in 1985.

Timo Blunck works as a successful music producer and Detlef Diederichsen established himself as a music journalist. Only at Christmas did the band give concerts in the Hamburg café “Schöne Aussichten”. The doctors covered the song So happy in 1994 on samplers 1, 2, 3, 4 - Bullenstaat! and 2001 5, 6, 7, 8 - Bull State! . The original appeared on the double CD for Jürgen Teipel's book Verschwende Deine Jugend .

Since 1999 the band members have been standing together again in the rehearsal room and working on a new album, which, however, was only released in 2007 with the title Reproductive Supermarket . In addition to the founding members from 1979, Timo Blunck's sons Nicolas and Elliot and Diederichsen's son Victor also appear on the new album. Ralf Denker, Marco Dreckkötter and Niels Lorenz are also involved as musicians . In spring 2007 the band presented their new songs on a tour of Germany, and a music video was made of the first song Christiane Paul , which is dedicated to the actress of the same name .
