The purple Christmas story is a German feature film by Manfred Stelzer from 1991 with Davia Dannenberg , which was produced by MPS Medienproduktionen Stuttgart on behalf of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk and the German TV broadcaster.

The rascal Hubert all too likes to play tricks on his fellow human beings, for example by staining door handles from below. Shortly before Christmas Eve, however, pranks happened in his environment for which he was wrongly held responsible. After a while he meets Lila, who is dressed completely in purple and claims that she is an angel and only visible to Hubert. She immediately proves this; Hubert, however, is constantly having to explain his surroundings. According to his own admission, the angel was sent out by his father to make a person angry - because those who constantly only do good threaten to become arrogant. Lila was only allowed to go home after a rogue succeeded.

Pranks fail repeatedly, because the victims are characterized by a strange indulgence because of the approaching Christmas party and do not get angry, which is why Hubert Lila now lends a hand. Lila worries about not being able to return home in time for Christmas, with Hubert increasingly worried about her well-being. Finally, the last attempt succeeds when the angel destroys the radio of one of Hubert's obviously hard of hearing neighbors with liquid. The obligatory prank was thus successful, but Lila is unhappy about the grief of the prank victim over the silence of the radio music. She therefore uses the special request that her father granted her as a reward to conjure up a brass band for the man in the living room. After completing her mission, she suddenly disappeared from Hubert's eyes.
